Description MV Akademik Shokalskiy is a ship with strengthened hull for sailing arctic and Antarctic waters. She is a sister ship to the Polar Pioneer. The ship has a Russian crew. Onboard is a fleet of inflatable Zodiacs for sightseeing and shore access.

History Akademik Shokalskiy was built in Finland in 1982 and was originally a research ship. In 1998 it was refitted as a cruise ship catering for up to 54 passengers, and cruises to the Arctic and Antarctic.
Dining There is a dining room aboard providing wholesome food prepared by Western chefs.
Entertainment The ship has a library, lounge bar and sauna.
Cabins Cabin accommodation includes twin cabins, triple cabins, quad cabins , mini suite and Captain's suite. All cabins have outside port holes.
