Description Celebrity Century is a Celebrity class cruise ship. The three deck high Atrium has a dome with which creates a unique atmosphere. Celebrity Century is a Celebrity class ship, and sister ship to Celebrity Galaxy and Celebrity Mercury which have now left the Celebrity fleet and are known as Mein Schiff and Mein Schiff 2 in the TUI Cruises fleet. The ship features fine wood work throughout its public places. Century's interior design was done by John Bannenberg and John McNeece.
Destinations Celebrity Century sails on Caribbean and European cruises, and will start Hawaiian and Australian cruises in 2011.
History Celebrity Century was built in Germany at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg. It was completed and had its maiden voyage in 1995 which was inaugurated by Century godmother Tina Chandris; she is Cruise’s Chairman’s wife. The ship was initially named Century and later changed to Celebrity Century. In 2006 the cruise received a $55 million renovation to bring the ship up to modern day standards.
Dining Fine dining options on Celebrity Century includes the two deck high Grand restaurant, and the Specialty Restaurant. The cafes on the ship are Cova Café, Spa Café and Islands Café. The famous bars and casual eat outs are Rendezvous Square, Mast bar, Sunset bar, Sushi Joint, Grill, Poolside bar, Martini bar, Liquors, Fortunes and The Crystal Room. The Boulevard on the Century not only has shops but also has good places for a quick snack while shopping.
Entertainment The two deck high Celebrity theatre has various shows in truly Broadway style, a Card room for a relaxed game of rummy with a view, Fortune’s Casino to test one’s luck at a slot machine, or roulette wheel, Michael’s club not just a place to dine but also fine music at the tunes of a baby grand piano and the Fun Factory and ideal to keep kids between the age of 3 to 11 occupied.
The Resort deck on Celebrity Cruise has an Aqua Spa taken care by Steiner of London and it includes a Cardiovascular and aerobics center with the ocean view room, a Persian Garden, a Therapy and Treatment room, Acupuncture room and Hair Salon. The Sports options on the cruise include Golf simulator, Shuffleboard and jogging track.
Cabins The most luxurious cabins are the Penthouse Suites at 1300 sq ft, Royal Suites at 650 sq ft, Sky suites at 300 sq ft, Century suites at 250 sq ft. These suites only differ in size and a few amenities. They all have enough balcony space and can sleep three guests. The Balcony cabins include Celebrity Concierge Class, Deluxe Ocean view with Verandah at Family Ocean view with Verandah and Sunset Verandah ranging from 200 sq ft and more, these rooms can also sleep up to three guests. The Ocean view rooms and the interior staterooms are ideal for two, although some have a bunk bed option to sleep four guests if needed.
