AMSTERDAM FACTS

Description The MS Amsterdam cruise ship, named after the Dutch capital, is a part of Holland America Line’s Signature class. The three deck atrium features a carving known as the Planeto Astrolabium. This work of art at the centre of the ship and showcases a world clock, along with the stars and planets. The interior of the Amsterdam is adorned with classic works of art including works by marine artist Stephen Card. The cruise ship offers a blend of modern day luxury and traditional Dutch inheritance.
History Holland America Line’s MS Amsterdam, is named after one of the famous cities in Holland. She was built in Fincantieri in Italy and is sister ship to the Rotterdam.
Public Areas Public areas on the ship include Merabella luxury store, a Boutique and a Shopping arcade for souvenirs, clothes, jewellery etc, a helpdesk for all shore excursions, a photo store where one can get prints of the pictures taken during the trip, a library, and art and photo gallery.
Dining Amsterdam’s food and dining offers various choices such as La Fontaine Dining Room, Pinnacle Grill, Lido Bar &Restaurant, Explorations Café, Queen’s Show lounge, Sea view bar, Neptune lounge etc. Each is enriched with exotic cuisines, served at buffets, candlelight romantic style or formal black tie dinners.
Entertainment On the Amsterdam there are plenty of entertainment options. The Lido pool is an ideal place for fun with family and friends. The culinary arts centre an interactive cookery sessions handled by famous chefs, right next to this is the Wajang Theater is another option. A club hall for kids and teens, the Loft and the Oasis centre for teens to get together and have fun. There is a wine tasting room catering for the wine connoisseur, and also novices who want to enhance their wine tasting knowledge.
For those passengers who like to spend time playing outdoor sports, there is a basket ball court and a tennis court. For those who prefer pampering and health rejuvenation on board, there is the Greenhouse spa and salon. There is also a thermal room, aerobics centre, fitness room, and sauna.
Cabins High end accommodation includes the Penthouse Verandah suites, Deluxe Verandah suites and Verandah suites that vary in size from 1100 sq ft to 500 sq ft. The smallest among its Verandah suites is approximately 200 sq ft and are all well furnished and equipped with all amenities and provide that elite experience for passengers on board. There are more than 130 inside cabins and more than 300 outside cabins that vary in space from 180 to 190 sq ft. There are about 20 rooms that have wheel chair accessibility.
