NORWEGIAN SKY FACTS

Description The Norwegian Sky was the first cruise to have ‘Free Style’ dining. With a weight of 76,000 tons and speed of 32 knots, it was launched in 1996. The Norwegian Sky belongs to the ‘Sky Class’ from the Norwegian Cruise Line. Like other ships in the NCL fleet, the Norwegian Sky features art on its hull.
Destinations at time of writing, the Norwegian Sky cruises from Miami to the Bahamas.
History The Norwegian Sky was built by Bermer Vulkan and Lloyd Werft in Germany. It was launched in 1996 and began service in 1999. She was later named the ‘Pride of Aloha’, thanks to its famous Hawaiian cruises. In 2008 the Pride of Aloha stopped its Hawaiian cruises and was renamed as Norwegian Sky.
Dining The Norwegian Sky ‘free style’ dining caters not just to ones taste buds but also has options that are easy on the pocket. Restaurants like Le Bistro, Cagney’s Steakhouse, II Adagio, a Garden café which also has an outdoor café are options one can consider on board the cruise. Dining rooms like The Crossings and Palace, Bars and Lounges like Plantation Club, Outrigger Lounge, Long board bar, Champs bar, Atrium bar and a Captain Cook bar are also worth visiting.
Entertainment Entertainment options include The Stardust theatre built on the lines of a Broadway theatre, ‘After hours’ entertainment just for the adults with stand-up comedy and also karaoke. Other activities for kids and adults include a theme swimming pool and Splash pool, Kid’s Korner, Video Arcade and a Sky Club Casino. Norwegian Sky has Body waves Spa, a typical Balinese spa, offering beauty and skin treatments. Body Waves fitness centre that is open from six in the morning to eleven at night enables people to stick to their fitness routines even while at sea. The Cruise also has a Golf course net, a basket ball court and a volley ball court.
Cabins The Norwegian Sky has range of accommodation options from inside staterooms to balcony staterooms with ceiling to floor windows and balconies. Suite accommodation includes about 10 Penthouses, an Owner’s Suite, Balcony suites, Ocean view rooms.
